All Because Two People Fell In Love

This week in class we talked about world demographics a.k.a. population statistics usually referring to the number of births and deaths. There were many interesting things that came up while discussing this topic. For many years, society has believed that there has been a population explosion throughout the world and  that this will one day ruin Mother Earth. Many years ago this may have been the case, but the truth of the matter is quite different today.
Recently, demographers have found that the world's population is actually decreasing. Why is this decrease taking place? Well, one reason is that fewer people are marrying and having children. The importance of the family is not being seen as much as before. Many people would rather satisfy their individualistic wants than start a family. Because of these new individualistic views consequences are arising such as divorce rates are increasing, people are getting married older, and fertility rates are decreasing.
One of the solutions to this problem is to strengthen families. I found this to be interesting because this article was not tied to religion; however, the principle of strengthening families is emphasized frequently by religious leaders. Harold B. Lee said, "The most important of the Lord's work that you will ever do will be the work you do within the walls of your own home."
As individuals we have many choices to make that can greatly impact those around us. Let us move forward with faith and do the best that we can to influence others for good.
